Note from the Scoutmaster
Hi Troop 565 Boys and Families and Webelos Guests
I hope you had a great Christmas!
Here are the things we need to focus on:
-
Campout January 3-4 at Tahosa ... we have a heated cabin reserved, Tahosa is a nearby BSA campground with a fun hill to go tubing. There are plenty of bunks in this cabin, parents and family are welcome to attend. The cost is $15 per person, includes cabin, dinner Saturday, breakfast and lunch Sunday. We plan to leave Saturday from Bethlehem Lutheran at 1:00, return to Longmont Sunday by 3:00. Bring an innertube or flat-bottomed sled. We will need a headcount before January 2.

Mark Cousins with the Colorado Department of Wildlife has volunteered to teach Hunter Safety for us. In my view, this course is a must for boys. Learning how to properly respect and handle guns is so important, I took this class as an 11 year old Scout. In our society with guns so prevalent, learning that guns are not toys and gun safety is a must. Also if a person wants a hunting license, this course is required by the State. Mark Cousins is a qualified instructor and a very interesting teacher too. He has worked with some of our boys as Cub Scouts fishing and giving presentations. In 3 troop meetings, boys will have the certification. One of the meetings will require shooting a gun. Dates are20January 8, January 15 and Jan uary 22 at the Colorado Nat'l Guard Armory, 15th and Main. Adults and family are welcome to attend and get their certification too. Let us know for a headcount.

Some of you still need to complete Railroading merit badge. All that you need remaining to do is to visit the websites in the email I sent earlier, then send a note confirming it to me or Deputy Nelson. Simple as that. Perhaps check out these website with your parents ... interesting information on trains!

A Klondike City has been reserved for us, we have been gven some more time to decide on the topic. Senior T565 boys need to decide on the topic ... perhaps work on it at Tahosa?
